This is just sad. The whole inventory system was changed in favor of people like you. People who don't own the game and say they would buy it, if the inventory changed to accommodate the mouse more.
Dean did im fact change the system and now almost all of it CAN be done with the mouse. He also broke the damn thing for the rest of us, who actually preferred the old system. We are now stuck with ever open inventory windows and having to scroll past f'ing buttons on the suit and jetpack. It's more clunky than ever for US to use, but for YOU it should be perfect.
Yet you don't even bother to research for any longer than 5 minutes and leave the game anyways.
I wonder how many of those people, claiming the movement made them motion sick, are now actually playing the game and are feeling any better. We are now stuck with the worst movement system I have experienced in any game short of SE (which seems to be the inspiration for movement atm, go figure) and the people who demanded it changed don't even KNOW that it changed.
Dean, let this be a lesson!
If you try to please everyone, you'll please noone. I certainly STOPPED playing your game after all that's changed, and I am by no means an exception.
Opinions, fellow disappointed stationeers?
We originally said we would not change it, not out of spite - but because we couldn't figure out a way to maintain what we had and do a new system.
I ended up spending my own personal weekends researching a solution, and many late nights, and I found a solution and implemented it.
So while you found a post from 2017, this is not true. Now we have full mouse control for the inventory as well as the old system.
In case I did miss something and my rant was in vain, you say:"as well as the old system" where can I change to the old system? Both inventory and movement. I'd like both of them reverted.
I realise the new system is not exactly like the old one, but it is very close. And as you can see from the original post above, that user specifically does not want to buy the game because of that old system. He is not alone. Many people found the old one far too difficult to use, and so some compromises needed to be made.
In fact, it would be fair to say the vast majority of people find the new system a great compromise between pure keyboard control and pure window mouse control.
I don't know how to or if that's even possible but I would really like to know if people actually do enjoy it.
Could you please start a poll about the inventory system and one about the movement? Maybe even over on discord and make a permanent link to it here on the forums? That would be nice. Thanks
I realize you are probably well over the refund time limit, so if you email me at dean.hall@rocketwerkz.com with your steam Id I can contact valve directly to get a special refund issued. This can take a few days, but they have done that for me in the past.
Dean I don't want a refund. I do love the game, but right now I hate the controls/movement more. I played the everliving F out of it before the changes, and I just hope there is any way to bring this game back to its former glory. There have been some AWESOME additions to it lately, and I get excited everytime. But at the same time, when I want to try them out and play around with them to see what I can come up with, I end up quitting the game 10 minutes in because of how frustrated I am with the controls and movement etc.
Please tell me this is not the intended end result. I know it isn't for the movement, but please tell me the inventory will get some way of switching back.
That would be amazing. Is there also a way to separate the suit buttons from the actual inventory? Like have another checkbox that when ticked, the first time I press "3" only the inventory comes up, the second time I press "3", only the buttons for AC, temp up, temp down etc. Show up?
I know this one is a little more elaborate, but that would be PERFECT.
Thanks a lot.
The new drag drop seems a good compromise for people when starting out or who just can't handle the control scheme but I for one thing its pretty good as it is
Added in r7779 with the following change note:
This will be on beta in the next hour or so, once it has finished compiling.
I will look at further expanding this, but at least it's a start.
Both RacerX and CaptainCamambert have no right to demand anything from developers and yet here they are wanting the game to be changed to fit THEIR expectations. I've seen tons of games be changed along their dvelopment phases. Not only alpha or early accesses, but finished products as well. The changes brought more people to the game and sometimes made people stop playing, and this is normal in this industry. This time the developers have made an informed decision to adjust the UI control system based on majority of reviews or post forums and that alone puts you, Captain, in a minority that should either adapt to changes or go play something that pleases you. You said it yourself, you can't please everyone.
UI control is a small thing to get used to. You got a problem if you can't. How long that would take you? A week? Two?
