1. Sart a new game (in your case on Mars)
2. Save the game and then exit the game. (iIf you have lots of save games name the new save something memorable so you can find it.)
3. Locate the save file for the new game on your computers hard drive.
4. Open the save file and look for a file called 'worldsettings'
5. Open 'worldsettings' file with Notepad
6. Look for a line that looks like this <GameMode>Survival</GameMode> (it should be close to the top.
7. Replace the word 'Survival' with 'Creative' so it looks like this <GameMode>Creative</GameMode>
8. Save the file and close.
9. Reload the save game and you should have access to the creative menu to allow for spawning in items.
To access the creative menu press'/' and type in what you are looking for in the fill box and when it shows up in the list left click to select it, pressing F9 will then spawn in the item.
Note. Creative mode does not remove hunger, suit damage or risk of death, it just allows you to spawn in items you need, you can turn off hunger in the game settings menu by moving the slider to zero, this will help early game if hunger is an issue.
Space suit damage and death are a different matter, although it can be annoying dying in game you don't really lose anything at the moment as you will respawn (this might change in the future but hopefully not)
Hope that helps
I like the kind of building something for now and thinking later Ill add this and that here and there and working toward automation
There are a couple of mods out in the Workshop that modify the amount of ore you mine. One is a 2x and the other is a 10x. I use the 2x of late and it make a big difference if you do not want to spend a lot of time exploring and mining.
Yeah ive seen them, i still find no pleasure in wandering the repetitive landscape in the search for materials. And the gpr is just tedium. Those mods also dont make the km long trip any shorter.
Thankyou for the suggestion, but mining ruins the game "for me". I do like progressing through tech and infrastructure, and solving logistical problems. I would just find myself going, i should do x, but its gonna cost y so thats z trips mining so nvm.
I hear ya. I will play with others because I don't have to mine as often. But, I also play creative when I am playing alone so I don't have to mine and do pretty much like what you said you like to do. For me it is exactly like you seem to elude, mining is a time sink that I will avoid if I can. (I got turned off of mining in games like Life is Feudal (a dirt digging simulator).
