But you can tweak mineables.xml file to the amount of full 50 ores every time you hit a lump og ore. Same result, same result if coded both ways, and/ or different politics, in your case :)
Edit: get Toolmake up and make as many Mining Belts as you can. Fill slot 3 with them and mine till they are full. Then you don't need to run back and fort every time 7 slots in the mining belt is full:
Im taking 3 mining belt with me now, also 3 large batteries.
with that im mining surface ore very fast, but im running out of them, now i have to walk about 1~2min away from base to find a surface ore point.
or maybe i should make my base movable?
and.... is this configuration working for my dedicated server? on an existing save?

hours and hours of manually digging is not for me
If you're spending a lot of time in transit, it might be worth making some extra mining belts. Carrying five belts instead of one (or six if you don't need your tool belt) would let you haul enormously more ore.
I thought when holding a tablet with Ore Scanner, the focusing item would be relevant with what kind of ore would be shown on the screen. But after a few tests, i find that some of items would show everything, others show no signal.
I believe mining drones are on the wishlist.
Mining, as it is now, is really not a strong point of the game and there's no shame in modding out it's tedium till it get's more involved or more interactions with other systems (Like exploring being worthwhile).
I dunno what you mean by focusing item, but I have noticed some things (coal in particular) seem not to have any signals.
