Automated smelting: is it possible?

If I understand correctly, it is currently impossible to have a setup that will feed ores into the arc furnace as they are being smelted? Mainly because there in no device that could hold all the ore you drop off and give it to chutes. Or am I missing something? Babysitting the furnace all day seems less and lees viable the further I am into the game.

It's very possible. I've done it twice. Primarily using the Import slot occupant parameter on the furnace array and the export slot occupant on the outlet chute to trigger everything.

I run into the occasional jam but could usually feed 20 stacks at a time to that setup.

Just don't exit the game until you're done smelting.

I've built an automated non-arc furnace that is capable of smelting all the normal ores as well as all the low pressure alloys in a matter of seconds while using minimal fuel.

It's able to smelt as many stacks at once as you want for about 100-200kp difference in the canister. That means a fully charged canister of fuel (5000kpa) will do between 25 and 50 cycles before running out.

It's incredibly fuel efficient and VERY quick. Like I said 200 gold ingots in 3 seconds.

One could say I'm a little proud 🤣.

I was actually looking for something more basic, as I am nowhere near that far into the game yet, but thanks anyway, I was able to gather soe useful hints for myself from these videos.

I here you say arc furnace. Is that something new they added? Or are you refering to the furnace that was in the game since it came to early access?

If it is new im excited to have it in the game!

furnace = alloy furnace
