Automated Manufacturing
Is it possible to automate manufacturing to the point where you can have all the crafting machines hooked up to a chute network that request materials as needed from some sort of centralized supply?

I know you could funnel all your ingots into a Fabricator for one stop shopping, but it'd be nice to have multiple machines all pulling ingots from a central supply as the specialized crafting machines are much faster in some instances than the Fabricator.

It is possible and the chutes would be easy to set up.

The hard and impractical part is all the logic required to make it work.

I really pray for micro logic.

I almost got a system, leaving only the automatics to do and everything will be in steam workshop the latest save game you can have a look

Just connect all your crafting machines (fabricator included) with conveyors, with a sorter filtering ingots between each one. Anything that's not an ingot gets sent to a stacker output (or just dumped on the floor if you want), while ingots remain in the crafting circuit.

All you have to do is keep every machine set to dump its contents (lever down) save for the one you want to use.

EDIT: And then, of course, have a chute that sends all your smelted ingots to your crafting circuit. I barely lift a finger around my base anymore.

EDIT 2: forgot that it has to be conveyors, not chutes - fixed.

I guess, of many things, we are missing a bulk storage/ container for ores.

I'm not so far into the game, but watched a lot of videos on semi setup systems.

@Kortak, do you know about anything else we are missing for a fully automated system?

Curious...

PS: @Bladehelm hope it's ok I ask ;)

Seems to be already there.

Really? That need to be checked out. what is the Kit called and wich machine, do you know?

Vending machine, but it needs a little bit of work - it has ability to output any specific items by request, but not yet 'any random' item. Making automated steel smelting with this should be possible, but automated arc furnace smelting is better of with shutes.

Ah, yeah, I know about that one.
I'm thinking bulk storage for ore etc.
Thanks though :)

vending machine should work as bulk ore storage

100 stacks of 50g of ore is not bulk enough? Smelt it and it will be 100 stacks of 500g.
