Welding canister blowing up on Vulcan
All of a sudden my welding canister is exploding. Went back a few saves and the same thing happens. It's not on, I just see the pressure starts to climb very fast, and then...boom.

Same here, happened to me and my coop partner twice in the last few days. Took a while to figure out what it was as we werent doing anything with it at the time, and we were inside in a near vacuum at a fairly normal temperature (130C).

Kept reloading and went item by item, and then I saw the torch canister pressure jump instantly from 6000 to around 13000, then higher as durability quickly dropped then boom.

Eventually had to run outside, drop it away from base and run.

Fuel ignites at 32C

That doesnt make sense. We have been using welding torches at the night time temp of 130C for hours before, and have used them for hours since that event. In fact, you would never be able to use a welding torch on vulcan if it blew up at 32C as the lowest surface temperature is just under 130C.

Ofcourse it doesn't make any sense, because the canister doesn't have it's own OnAtmosphericTick code to slowly heat up and cool down in a vac.
Also the atmospheric interaction with your suit doesn't happen untill you get to 9-10kpa atmospheric because you are just fine in 130c atmosphere under that pressure untill it rises.
Also every one else who said "it's impossibe!" used their atmospheric tablet to prove me wrong 100% of the time.

So in fact, you can use a welding torch just fine on vulcan when knowing game mechanics and knowing when not to use it and cool the canister down so you don't explode.
Good thing they are swapping the torch for the arc welder as no one bothers to check the fuel temperature befor they go out to weld and wonder why a minute later they explode.

Cheer, not gonna bother here anymore, you should help every one here with your magic facts.

I recommend to build the electric welder instead ;-)
But you can first build it once you setup a few machines and used your ordinary gas welder xx times. But once you get it you are safe and can throw the gas welder away ;-)

In Beta, the arc welder has replaced the gas welder to help prevent the big bangy stuff.

Nope, only with idiots who start claiming "facts" instead of actual looking what is happening with the temperature and make dumb comments like this.

Did I burst your bubble?

I'm not bothered at all, just extremely entertained. I imagine you smash at least one keyboard anytime someone dares to defy you.

If we keep this going, you'll either learn to keep calm or you'll go bankrupt replacing those keyboards.

Seriously, please continue smashing those keys :)

Personally I dumped my canister of fuel into my filtration system. Let the gases cool, then mix more fuel that's much cooler. Dump the canister off into filtration every time you're done. Yeah it's a hassle, but it's Vulcan. Kinda like swimming in a sea of gasoline on Mercury with pipe bombs strapped to your chest.
