how do switch to belts

I'm having hard time switching from tool belt to mining. I mean ui in is terrible for someone who never played ss13.

hold down 5 to bring it into your hand.
Trust me the controls seem ass backwards but you will learn to love them :D

Also play thru the turtorial its like 10 minutes long and this is covered in there.

Tutorial 10 minutes long? Yeah, for a player with several years of Stationeers experience, maybe. For a n00b, 10 minutes doesn't even get you thru the first chapter!

Also, I came here to look for the answer BECAUSE the "Basic Mining" tutorial simply says to equip the Mining Belt, but does NOT specify how! So THAT's how useful the tutorial is! Playing "40-hands" is easier than this.

I store mining belt in backpack which is activated/deactivated by 4. Then pressing Alt allows you to move mouse cursor around. You click on mining belt inside backpack and then drag to left bottom corner over the instrument belt and release. They are swapped but you need to press 6 to bring its control window. The same way you can swap back or have multiple mining belts.

Alt-drag is pretty fast once you get used to it. Alt-drag then 6.. I tend to leave open my suit, backpack, and belt to make accessing stuff easy with alt-drag.
