Q&A: Passive Vent + Pump = Feasible?
Do I really have to use an active vent to vent gases out of a room? Would a passive vent together with a pipe pump no be enough? Or can the passive vent only work in inward mode (meaning IN-to the room)?

EDIT: I think it was Outward. I mix that up all the time. I think INward means IN-to the vent and OUT-ward out of the vent. Whatever the name: I mean out of the room, into the vent.

You have to use any device thats "pumping" to get gas out of a room. Can be an active vent, pipe pumps, air conditioner/filtration. Also thermodynamics apply. So passive vents haven no "direction" but follow pressure- and temperature laws. Only the active vent can pump in two directions.

So you saying: I can use the passiv vent in the room a volume pump outside and the gases from the room are sucked out?

Yes. But dont forget you need to have something to suck it to/into. You can even use:
| pass vent -> pump -> pass vent |
The pumps are one way so they will only suck in on the left and output on the right.

The active vents in game are completely unrealistic as to how they work in game. IMO they should get rid of them and stick with pumps which is far more realistic, when dealing with vaccum pressures.
