So I've got an air loop, which can resupply my base with air, a waste loop for filtering contaminants and some heating. How would I go about automating these various system so they turn on and off as needed?

i would suggest a big o2 storage and passiv vents in the base now connect all passiv vents with an pressure regulator so that the pressure from the tanks can always flow in the base without getting higher than 100kpa. For the CO2 filter i would build a second system which leads into a filtration system and then back into the o2 tanks or the base.

I am building the same system but I would first experiment with the physics of the game before building anything large scale.

Example,

Start with small room for gas capture, this should have your furnaces in there as they do release gases when smelting.

Than work on a gas separator

Than work on a gas combiner

Than wrk on a gas transfer system to canister

Than work out a heat / cooling system

Add in air quality control

Add fail safes

Put it all together :P
