Any news on a GOG Release?
I'd love to play this game but I don't buy on Steam anymore, any plans for a later GOG release?

Hey there! I'm afraid we don't have any plans to launch with GOG at this time! If this should change, we'll let people know.

What is the reason for no planned GoG release?

I saw the prominent Steam logo on the game's loading screen, so is that because of some licensing deal with Valve? Or do you have Steam multiplayer or workshop integration? If not, what do you have to lose?

The game updates should also be released on GOG, takes a bit more work as Steam files can't be pushed to GOG as such.

yooka laylee got crazy fundings. Snake pass not (and It never had crowdfunding)
I bet devs will release it on gog if you'll pay for all extra work.

Except it wouldn't really take extra work...? Every game I've seen for PC was the same on both stores give or take a feature.

By least, any Steam-related functionality (stats, achievements) has to be taken out of the game for GOG version, or running the downloaded game will either bring up Steam client or crash (depending on how things are handled).

GOG's system (has achievements, but doesn't have stats IIRC) should also be integrated, or people will complain about treating GOG customers as second-class, and angrily use "gogmixes" to alert other customers about it.

If the Steam version later gets feaure updates - say, a level editor, GOG version would need them too. GOG does not have an equivalent of Workshop, however, so it would end up being inferior to Steam version by default.

Uploading process is not extremely different (Steam and GOG each have their own confusing software for digitally signing and uploading builds), but both builds will need to be tested and uploaded at once, or people will be upset (as per usual).

Overall, it's not as bad as porting the game to additional platforms, but it is some extra work (and future responsibilities).

+1 for a GOG release :PolygonHeart:

Thread revival aside, it's probably a solid time to consider it :3 But that's just, like, my opinion :beautyball:

I don't see why they haven't done that. I'm pretty sure this game has been available drm-free in humble trove for quite a while
