Should I buy this on PC or the Nintendo Switch?
I'm trying to weigh-up whether 4K / 60fps visuals are worth having over the sheer convenience and portability factor of the Switch, any other input here would be very much appreciated!

In Europe release date is the 29th, not the 28th

I have been playing this game on the switch and honestly this is one of those games that you will be so engrossed in while playing you won't notice or care that it's only running 30 fps (it's a smooth 30 fps at that with no apparent effect on ability to play or enjoy the game) and I am usualy pretty particular about frame rates if 60+ fps is achievable. Plus it's a really nice game to have on the switch since there isn't a lot out right now.

Is it locked to 30fps on Switch?

Yes, but I couldn't tell easily as there are not a lot of reference points for determining the frame rate in this game. No enemies moving around for example just the occasional critter and rustling grass. Plus it seems to play just as smooth as if it were at 60 fps. The major moving objects in this game are the snake and a humming bird whose wings beat so fast it wouldn't look any different at any available refresh rate.

The fps count isn't the problem. It is the dumped down graphics that shows how little power the Switch really has. I don't think it will be able to render Yooka Laylee properly.

Just bought the Switch version & downloading now, so can't yet comment on the graphics or frame rates. Any initial thoughts on differences between docked & handheld? Same, smother / higher res!?

I have not tried the docked mode (waiting for screen protectors) but it should be 1080p as I heard. If by smoother you mean higher framerate (now how I would use that) thats not how the dock works its basicly just an hdmi hub. If you mean less stuttery, the game already seems to be pretty much stutter free on the hand-held. I heard its supposed to run simillarly in the dock mode (a smooth 30 fps) because they optimized it for 1080p play.

I can see where they reduced the graphics from screenshots, but honestly its seems like this game lives for the nintendo handheld in terms of gameplay. The graphical difference while significant isn't enough to make me get it on pc instead of the Switch. In the case of Yooka Laylee, I can see where for the framerate alone (if at 30 fps on the Switch) it would be more playable on PC because its a more active game with moving enemies and platform jumping. I probably did dodge a bullet by preordering that game on here before finding out about the switch version.

Yus, my kind of question. I only play Nintendo and Pc.

Bought the switch version but it seems the dev's didn't know how the rumble works for the joycon controllers.

They've set the vibration to max or something? Everytime you pick up a item on the switch, the controller vibrates REALLY loud, producing a sharp piercing noise. It vibrates the actual console, causing some horrible metalic noise.

Detaching them and playing manually improves it a little bit, but its very annoying. I'm really hoping they patch it soon, because it's just plain annoying and can't be turned off in the settings.

To be honest as it is right now I'm kinda regretting the switch version....the graphics look very degraded, as if the resolution scaling is rendering lower than it should be, creating a sort of blurry effect.

Played through the first 3 levels and loving just about every part of this game... infuriatingly fun.

What ever res & frame rate the Switch version runs at is really a non thing. Snake Pass just works, and is masses of fun. Really like the N64 / Rare feel to the graphics and audio.

Think the HD Rumble has been patched already, or certainly being worked on...

For me I do no gaming on the go so for me PC was the clear choice. 1440p 60fps on the highest settings, game looks and feels fantastic.

games like this should really have a buy once and have it across all platforms, having to rebuy the same game these days is so stupid.

Personally, I got it for PC because it looks better if I decide to do a Let's Play of it... plus I have a hardcore gaming rig.

that said, I seriously considered getting the switch vesion, just because the game feels incredibly Nintendo golden age...

maybe I will buy the switch version later... I bought FF15 6 times for different reasons at the time, talling easily in around 500 bucks, so buying Snake Pass twice won't kill me...
