Just spent 20 mins trying to sign up but there is no way to put in a birthdate and no matter what I do it just says I can not leave that area blank................................ Why does the registration page have a * on literally every field?

This sounds like a silly question, but how do you use it? I've put it in my tool bar, and nothing happens. I've pressed right click, the number buttons, swapped it around, and still nothing. Am I missing something?
