How do I correctly explore an area?

I've wandered through some areas numerous times, but they still show up as unexplored on my map. Is there an actual way to have them showed up as explored on my map?

Humm when u have explored new aeas u nedd to go back to camp base for updated it ?

After you "explore" an area you have to go back to motherbase - then it will record the areas you have explored and it will unlock on the map.

I got 100% Map explored on both Maps. When theres a square that is still covered mark it before you try to enter the square. Think about straight paths to walk to systematicaly get them revealed when you return to base. There are a bunch of squares that need a bit of patience and the help of tools like watchtowers.
When there are single squares near the cliffs always try to hug the wall or even walk up slopes or steep rocks. If you manage to enter the missing square for a second or two you hear the beep of your iDroid when your markers fade.

Just realized I was wrong, my apologies! Basically I realized, any area where you can't get a connection is an unexplored area. So wandering around areas where you have no connection is how you explore the map. Thanks for all the help, though everyone, I appreciate it!
