I don't think he did it intentionally personally, but he certainly did it unproffesionally. When you ask for money, you best do the job right. People shouldn't let their heart rule their head, he should have checked the facts himself before he covered it.
I disagree, he has an axe to grind and has been doing the same biased videos for a good while now. Generally anything related to Kojima and/or Konami ends up like that because that's just who he is.
Whether he should atleast try to be professional and unbiased when he's asking money though, absolutely. If you want people to really take you seriously then you should be serious about it yourself instead of simply reading an article aloud and telling people how they should be outraged that something happened and how outraged you are about it. Then it's just sensationalism and you aren't really contributing at all.
And a point you made previously, everyone and their mothers are copying eachothers articles with barely any research put into it past a source in another site that may end up with no real sources at all if you follow down the rabbit hole. Takes a couple hours to do that basic background research before talking about something and say "Hey, allegedly so and so happened. I did some research into this, and there doesn't appear to be any backing evidence...". But saying he has to do it in order to make people aware it's happening when he himself isn't breaking any news everyone else hasn't already made videos or articles about is just a cop out excuse when you don't want to admit he's in it for the money.
Asking to donate to his Patreon which he says in every video which is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL I will add, isn't "asking for money". "If you want people to really take you seriously then you should be serious about it yourself instead of simply reading an article aloud and telling people how they should be outraged that something happened and how outraged you are about it. Then it's just sensationalism and you aren't really contributing at all." You clearly don't understand that that's how Yong does things. He's basically just giving his thoughts and opinions on whatever topic he's talking about which you seem to not be realizing.
You either don't get the subtext or you are just here to defend little poor Yong who does things "his" way.
If i spend months telling you how terrible companies are and then ask you to give me money so we remain free from those companies, that's pretty much playing to a cultivated fear. You can try to defend him all you want but it's funny that at the same time you basically back up everything I say but excuse it with "It's just the way he does things".
The whole point of this is his way of doing things which is lazy and sometimes dishonest. Also the asking for money is fine, doing it in the video, the first post and the description of the video without even bothering to give you a link to his source articles or doing basic research shows where the priorities lie.
You may want to read before blidly defending your idol or whatever.
EDIT: And if you do want to go down with this "it's his way of doing things" then why is he even relevant if all he's gonna give you is his opinion? Everyone has opinions, I could go ask the granny down the street if she thinks a game is good instead.
To his credit he did one correction on a minor incorrection while at the same time doubling down on the microtransaction ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. So you know, one step forward three steps back. But at least his ♥♥♥♥ wasn't as cringy and time wasting as AngstyJoe's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hamfest he tried to pass off as a review and god knows Jim Sterling's review is absolute ♥♥♥♥ on par with the stuff Digital Homicide shoveled out when steam still tolerated their presence
"If i spend months telling you how terrible companies are and then ask you to give me money so we remain free from those companies, that's pretty much playing to a cultivated fear." You have seriously got to be absolutely full of it! Asking somebody to dontate to their Patreon and that it is absolutely 100% optional so that he can remain 100% independent after talking about how terrible companies like Activision/Blizzard and EA are is in absolutely no way "playing to a cultivated fear" which you just happened to pull out of thin air.
And he does give sources, which is something that you continue to flat out ignore from what I've noticed.
I always have to facepalm and shake my head when it comes to closed minded idiots who have this false assumption that all of this hate towards Konami is part of some bandwagon or etc. not taking into consideration that the hatred that people have for Konami is very much 100% justified and real.
This whole video is Yong saying what he thinks and feels about a situation with no evidence whatsoever.
However likely the claims that the Devs wanted to put Kojima in the special thanks but Konami would not let them, it is completley baseless. Where on earth is the evidence for this?. At least he doesn't call it a 'news update' but why even make a video?
"ooo Kojima said that he appreciated what Konami did for his career but evil Konami won't even thank him by name except for the time they thanked 'ALL' staff, but I found that impersonal!"
Yeah, I still don't like Konami much, but they didn't NEED to thank anyone and they thanked the entire staff which included Kojima. The whole team worked on the game and they gave the whole team recognition.
Talk about personal Vendetta, the only reason he said he's not putting it out to kiss ass is because he knows it is what he is doing.
But pests are still flocking to this forum to continue to attack it, and its users for no legitimate reason.
Honestly, if any review mentions anything about the company, it has already lost its credibility.
You aren't reviewing the game at that point, you're bringing politics into the equation. You aren't judging the product, you are judging the company's product.
And those two are entirely different things.
I know this, because I used to be one of those people. I judged Payday 2 because of Overkill the developers. And I judged it harshly (Back in the whole Microtransaction fiasco), but if I were to calmly and logically judge the game as a game, the game was actually decent and fund.
