Not a bad point. Though the actual order is:

DR: Frank
DR2: Chuck
DR2OTR: Frank
DR3: Nick
DR4: Frank

If you consider that OTR is not canon that's 10 years between Frank appearances.

But you make a good point regardless and we do like the fact that with Dead Rising we not only have a range of established heroes but can always feature new characters as the protagonist. It's something we established with DR2.

I apologize for my heated opinion. I was just looking forward to the next Dead Rising game but I'm just seriously sick of Frank and even beyond seriously sick of playing a dude.

Can you please consider Katie as main protagonist for DR5....

well you could buy dead rising 3 and play the untold stories where the main character is a girl

Female Characters

So... I watched your trailer, and glanced at all the screenshots on the store page. I have a question... "Can you play as a female character?". I know, you wrote the story with a love interest in mind (probably) so the story involves the main character being male, Frank West. However, many games allow the player to swap out the normal player model for a female model, even if the voice or dialog is unchanged. Is there any ability to play as a female, or to perhaps swap out the player model with any of the other female models in the game in: New Game, New Game+, or Online Coop?

I mean, you're now 4.6 games into the series (including Off the Record for .5, and a terrible pre-smart-phone phone game for .1), and the only time we've ever gotten to play as a female character was in a small dlc item for Dead Rising 3. You've had plenty of female characters in the series, but for some reason, never really let us play as one.

Well you could play her even without using a mod. You played as her in one of the DLC story things. ( There where other characters you played as too in the other story DLCs it had. The last one was one of the people who worked for the company. )

I was kinda shocked they made Frank to be the main character again for DR4. If I remember correctly he is supposed to be in his mid 40s or so in DR1.

I do hope that if they continue making games for the series ( and of course I want them to make more ) that they do start having different main characters. Having another game as Nick would be fine I guess but I would much rather them make a new character or use an existing one that has not been one of the mains yet.

It's a fair point.

We certainly worked to bring more diversity to the story via the supporting cast with Dead Rising 4 and will continue to look or ways to expand on that in our future titles.

Oh, I forgot to mention Endless Mode earlier (assuming this one has that, or an equivalent), where the story is muted to allow infinite exploration and zombie murder. That's another good chance to let the player play as a female character, without hindering the story.

so where's Frank then? I see people seemingly talking to Frank in the game but he must always be directly behind the complete stranger that you play as in this game, also who's this new protagonist?

dead rising 4 is a endless mode because there is no time limit but you can dress as a woman if that counts as playing as a female?

You play as Frank, but his 'buddy' so to speak is a female, Vicky.
Plus nobody knows if Capcom will make a DLC where you can play as a female, like they did in DR3. Who knows?!

but you're not playing as Frank, I know what Frank looks and sounds like, the guy you are playing as in Dead Rising 4 looks, sounds and acts NOTHING like Frank West from DR1, DR2: case West and DR2:OTR..... you missed the point of what I was saying

Yeah, and in dmc2 isn't Dante isn't really Dante. And RE5 Chris isn't the same Chris from RECVX. Cool story
