How bad is this game really?
I was thinking about downloading this after finishing Dead Rising 3 but for years I heard DR4 is uber garbage. I know it's def weaker than the other games from the series but how bad is it really? Is it playable, can you have fun or is it just fricking annoying?

i think it's mediocre and borderline insult to previous dead rising games. Check the next videos they perfectly explain what went wrong with this title.

this is dead rising 1 vs dead rising 4 comparisson

Then the price, sure it's not that expensive and it's on sale right now but for agame with such mixed reviews i wouldn't ask for more than DR1 or DR2 price, it should be cheaper.

Finally this thing still has DRM Denuvo on it, Capcom usually removes denuvo once a game has reached it's peak and sales start dropping, when the hype has finished just like they did with resident evil 7, resident evil 8 village and the remakes, still, this game, DR4 won't let denuvo go and i assume this is because capcom won't bother removing it since the game is pretty much abandoned and barely anyone has interest playing it.

DR1, DR2 and DR off the record are pretty good imo, i haven't played DR3 but i watched many videos and looks fine, you should play the very 1st DR games and skip this one but up to you also i think the DR4 story is not related to DR3 but i could be wrong.

I saw Crowbcat's video years ago and yeah I saw how much downgraded DR4 is but I kinda understand why it sucks after playing it for over 10 hours now. It's because Capcom Vancouver got shafted by Capcom. I mean, you cant make a good DR game in a year or so. If you dont know, Capcom DELETED 6 months of work made my Capcom Vancouver and they had to start from scratch with smaller team because some of them got fired.

I played ALL Dead Rising games, some of them i played in a past and some of them this year (DR2 and OTR i replayed since I played them in 2011). I finished DR1, liked it, finished DR2 and OTR, liked it, DR3 I loved and now I'm playing DR4. It's okay I guess, but Frank's character suck - not only he's not like Frank from DR1 but he's also a hypocrite and just an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Story is meh, too many retcons or changes.

Denuvo surprised me too, but like you said DR4 is abandoned since it's mediocre at best thanks to Capcom, so they wont remove Denuvo.

I bought on sale so I didnt got ripped off but Im not saying Im loving it. It's cool I guess and I usually play 2 hours per day so It doesnt tire me but Im definetely have less fun then with previous games.

BTW, I cant believe they removed weapons locker from DR3. Man, looking for ingredients for combo weapons suck.

Yeah, it's bad.
That CrowBCat comparison is a bit outdated because they did some fixes after seeing it, like adding reactive bodies and some new survivor missions, but it still sucks.
Story is bad, gameplay is okay but feels broken and just doesn't feel up to par with 3 and 2.

Yeah, story IS bad. Like I dont want to spoil it for people but there were couple contradicions especially for Franks character.
Gameplay is okay at best, but I didnt had that much fun. That, and Exo Suit sucked

Speaking of exo-suits if you decide to play on into the multiplayer mode don't try to fight the exo-suit boss 'Bhom' on wave 3.

Just bring a vehicle into the arena and sit in it while it burns - he'll kill himself with his own crazy-strong attacks.

its SOOOO much worse than DR3
just the fact that they removed the coop campaign on a game like this that just feels like it was made for coop is so sad

It depends heavily on the perspective you take for the games. As a Dead Rising game, DR4 is one of the absolute worst in the series as it abandons multiple series mechanics and mainstays to adopt a more streamlined approach to fall in line with more modern open-world titles. This game makes me regret Capcom ever giving the series to Blue Castle to take over for the rest of the series' lifespan.

If you ignore the games legacy as part of the Dead Rising series, you can at best enjoy this game as a generic zombie-killing open world title. Don't expect any deep mechanics, enjoyable story, or anything of that nature. If you can turn off your brain and kill zombies in a slightly better than mediocre open world, you'll find your money's worth with this game.

It's pretty wack as DR game, yes, but even as zombie killing game it is not as fun as other games from this genre or franchise. I had fun, sometimes, but its broken mechanics were annoying me. For example - zombie doesnt have to swing at you do damage you. As long as they touched you then you take damage. Their vision is also broken because they always see or hear you. What about exo suit? Well, you cant mark them so most of the time you play without it because you dont know where it is, and when you find it you can only use it for 2 minutes. Wow...
It sucks DR4 is what it is, but after playing and finishing it I agree with others, its's painfully mediocre.

I liked it more than DR 3, but the golf dlc is ♥♥♥♥. The coop could be fun but its dead
