Hello, lords! Thank you for all the feedback from the first test. This update is a big one:

• Drag and train: drag a hero into a training ground's frame (or just click the card) and see at a glance who is free and who is out marching.

• Auto-training: switch it on and an empty training ground takes the hero who most needs to grow. After 8 pm it books a full 12 hours, ready when you wake up.

• In a hurry? Finish with gold for 70% of the XP, or with gems for 1.5×.

• Ready now only lists things you can actually do. No more being sent to camps you can't win.

• Every march says which squad is going, warns you in red when it will likely lose, and offers to send another.

• New high-rarity heroes get a nudge to train, and a nudge into the squad once they are strong enough.

• Go fills a squad's empty places before it marches.

• Smoother difficulty through Act 1 and the first stages of Act 2: no sudden walls.

• Border Wanted camps are picked to match your strongest squad, with the same rewards.

• Early warehouses cost mostly gold, so gold piles up less and lumber runs short less.

• No more hitch after Collect all when you log in.

• Battle reports show how much XP each hero still needs.

• The forge picks gear for the hero you came from, and lets you equip it in one click.

• Lists keep their place when you click something.

Keep the feedback coming. We're reading every word! 🍻

The store page for The Lords Next Door is live.

You were a captain in the long war. Now you have the deed to a stony patch of frontier, a bad knee, and an old quartermaster named Wendel who will not let you rest. Build a town. Gather heroes. Get to know the neighbours. The war is over. Mostly.

The Lords Next Door is a free-to-play online town builder. Your town shares a valley with nine others, and your neighbours are other players. Neighbours never attack each other: you call on them, swap gifts, lend a hand when they build, and hold the line together when raiders cross the border.

• Build. Place gold mines, lumber mills, quarries, mana springs, a tavern, training grounds and a blacksmith wherever you like on your land, and grow your Town Hall into a keep, a castle and one day a crown citadel.

• Gather heroes. 34 heroes from 18 peoples visit your tavern. Train them, forge and enchant their gear, and raise them to six stars.

• Head into the wilds. Clear goblin camps, wolf dens, spider nests and troll lairs around your town. Battles play out by themselves, right on the map outside your gates.

Visit every day, swap gifts and local produce, and send heroes to stand guard at a friend's gate. Friendship grows over months, from stranger to hearth-kin. Homes with no player yet are kept warm by friendly computer lords.

A 40-stage campaign in four acts, with bosses, three-star ratings, elite stages and new heroes to win, and a story told in a prologue and five chapters.

The game is still in development. A small group of testers is playing it, and we adjust things almost every day based on what they tell us. It is free to play, runs on Windows and macOS, needs an internet connection, and can be played in English, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

If this sounds like your kind of town, please add The Lords Next Door to your wishlist. Steam will let you know when it comes out.
