South China Sea 2018 Campaign (beta)
So hey, not once in a while I made a kind of unique missions and campaigns for this awesome submarine game that in the fact, I never played the one that is called "Red Storm Rising".

Because from the start I like Naruto/Boruto and modern warfare, this is the result: the South China Sea 2018 campaign.

Description
2018: Last year, on December 16th, New Russian armed forces that attended the security detail during the Chinese presidential election in Beijing was attacked by the terrorists claimed to be the remnants of 'Blatnoi' insurgency group. Chinese government has accused New Russia and its allies as the perpetrator that risked the president's safety. Following the incident, Chinese government has declared war on New Russia's allies, including neutral country, US and Japan.

Detailed description
This is basically a copy of the South China Sea 2000 campaign with different look of the intro "newspapers" as in... instead of China going to claim oil, China started war on a country that they blamed for the false accusations of a country. Most of the campaign contents remain the same, but what I change is the subs that you and the enemy can use. Example: in SCS 2000, it's limited up to Seawolf (and Ohio), but in SCS 2018, you can use up to Virginia-class, even the SSGN type like Ohio.

All of these, however, requires CaptainX3's New Playable Subs and More mod, but you can use my "override" folder version with correct tube position launch, default UI, "only" a limited number of usable submarines (don't prefer wide array of customizations or even the playable warships from CaptainX3 myself), and new weapon sets (like skwabie's UUM-125 Sea Lance ASW rocket - much similar to SS-N-15 or SS-N-16).

Public beta is ready
I haven't yet contacted CaptainX3 or skwabie regarding the use of their models and/or weapons data from them, yet I was abandoning this project after everything is ready for public beta. I hate myself for being lazy by playing other games. I may gonna move on to play CW Epic Mod after a year enjoying Ace Combat and other game, forgetting that CW is here to waste my time waiting for my birthday to buy Ace Combat 7.

Some custom, fictional subs are from another Steam user, Cheap_Trick (greetings, and thanks for sharing).

Download link is available here[drive.google.com].

Report bugs at the comments section. Enjoy Naruto/Boruto-styled campaign.

I'm definitely interested in this campaign. I've been itching to have a campaign where you fight advanced enemies in an advanced submarine while maintaining historical accuracy.

You really should go through with this. Directly skwabie and CaptainX3. You can also show this in the Cold Waters Discord server. The modding community has gotten more active there, and some people behind the Epic Mod have also joined in.

This campaign should be updated to 2020s standards. The Sui class would probably be a match against the Virginia. On the surface, the Luyang, Renhai, and Jiangkai classes would pose the biggest threats. I'd also want to be able to have the opportunity to sink the carriers Liaoning and Shandong in Cold Waters; Epic Mod already lets you sink Iowa-class battleships and Nimitz-class supercarriers. The final SSBN mission would involve sinking a Tang-class SSBN escorted by Sui and possibly Yasen-M.

We could probably have this made for the Epic Mod set in the world map as well. Those people really did a lot of work that could mesh in well with this idea.

I think others would probably want to see this without anime-related media.

Another possibility is repurposing such a campaign for the upcoming game Sea Power. It will have even more extensive modding support, so a global war between USA and Russia/China would definitely be doable there when it comes out.

As an addendum, I also have some files that could be of use to you to integrate for this mod. I've made the Jin-class SSBN and Tang-class SSBN for an add-on I did for More Playable Subs back in the the day. It would be great to recommision those files for usage in this mod if it will push through.

We can borrow the some more modern Russian assets like Yasen-M, Project 949AM, and Futlyar torpedo from the Epic Mod people.

I also have a historically accurate Block V Virginia-class submarine with proper Virginia Payload Module capacity as well for this.

I'd be interested to do the campaign testing as well.

It's been a while. I haven't touched this for a while, but few years back, I've already going to make this mod ready for public beta, but I got other things to do, especially my main interest that day was Ace Combat.

If you like Naruto/Boruto, then you know where this mod goes. It's entirely fictional, not related to any real-world scenario or any kind, but if you get my point, just like other mods, this expands a number of subs, but with focus of realism; no playable ships, so as to avoid unwanted bugs or glitches.

Currently I'm having a trouble with one mission didn't displaying properly; might as well check that out again, see if something had changed since I left this project maybe... last year?

Yeah, which mission doesn't work properly in your current mod? I believe the game has been on 1.15g for quite a while.

More realism like skwabie, 1990 campaign, and Epic Mod still sells me regardless. Also, a long campaign with many successful missions before the final mission would only further increase the replay value for me.

I'll get back to it when there is time, bud.

I can't tell which one, I'm afraid, but there's an issue with Mission 20 that you need to click twice (not double-click) since for some reason, it tries to load mission data but stuck at the half of loading. Most likely is because having so many ships in place.

Test it out yourself. I have updated the post to add download link.

I'm in the middle of getting a new computer, but I'll be able to check it out. Thanks.

Which txt file is for Mission 20?

single020, I suppose? It's public beta; you can try it.

I'm kinda curious what caused mission 20 to be having a bit of trouble loading mission data. My first assumption is that maybe a lot of enemy ships in one place. Other than that, Idk.

I just tested Mission 20 after getting my new computer.

I encountered no issues with it.

It looks like slow read speeds might be prolonging loading times.

Figures. Thought it might be something else or maybe with too many object placements. Thanks for letting me know.
