It would be more appropriate for it to be used in the 1968 campaign.
Yeah! But it’s not in the SSBN_PATROL file (which I think is the final mission). Haven’t yet looked through ALL the mission files just yet, I’m sort of intrigued where (what mission precisely) it would be encountered if anyone knew!
Not in the Sub-resupply ones either. Guess I’ll look more in-depth later if no one’s found if and answered before I do
I was thinking of something similar, but in the South China Sea theater with the Red Banner Fleet against the PLAN. The idea is for it to be an escalation of the Sino-Soviet split and subsequent border conflict.
I think with the SCS theater available, there will be alot of interesting options for campaigns in different time frames.
Remember, the GUPPY, Tang and Barbel classes would have been patroling all over, not just on the East Coast. A prime mission would have been covering the G-I-UK gap, where SOSUS data could give them good intercept info... (in theory) all they would have had to do is lay in wait at steerage, making occasional changes in position to meet incoming targets.
A lot of those targets (in 68) would have been SSGs and SSGNs moving to launch cruise missiles at the East Coast or US CBGs in the Atlantic.
I'm thinking that'll change before the final public SCS release... there are a couple of Chinese boats that use SET-65's when it makes more sense they would use Yu-1's...
Are they the SET-65’s or the 65M’s? It looked like the old 65’s were pretty similer to the Yu-1’s ( basically crap sensor range of about 800 yds ) in that case yeah it would make sense to use the Yu-1.
Yeah they were using the old SET-65. It's possible that the vessels were integrated into the game at an earlier date than the Yu-1 was... maybe the files just haven't been updated for it yet, it's a pretty minor thing since the SET and Yu have nearly the same stats.
