For me, they have spawned both in the Spratleys and Parcel Islands.
In the SEAL mission involving oil rig takeover, it spawn inside the blue circle...
But my sonar man just say... Conn - sonar, contact S1, is classified as... And then he goes silent...
I noticed that as well, looking at the game files the Oil rigs have a different shiptype in the vessel files... so the voice that would be called on for a "merchant" designation is missing. I am uncertain if it can even be added for the rigs unless KFG adds extra code.
Only other option to get the merchant voice ID is to change the ship type to merchant within the vessel file... which I'm sure would come with ill-effects.
Is it me remembering wrong or do they not show on the map as merchant?
Or do they show up as oil rig?
I don't remember...
The voices and message log are kinda tied into the same code it seems.
Is there no ID on the tack map?
They are most certainly out there, especially around the Paracel Islands and in the Norwegian Sea they are clustered around the North Sea and a few near the Norwegian coast.
But the ocean is a big place and generating combat in the vicinity of a rig can be rare, but they are out there.
