As for the tubes jamming, you were probably going too fast.

You seem to have misunderstood.
This is not a game where you fly around at top speed fragging targets. You have to be patient. If you are driving fast enough to jam your tubes, you are doing it wrong.
The beta versions fix the impossible aircraft; subscribe to that.
In the early campaign and 68 missions, you have inferior torps, but better ears. You have to use that to get into position behind your enemy to approach close enough to kill him.
Russian diesels can be hard to find - especially Tangos and Kilos. A Kilo-class on batteries is as quiet or quieter than an LA.

"It's impossible to use your sonars to locate anyone without giving away your position"
Yes...true story...if you run around with your active sonar on, then yes, the enemy will see you. Every time you activate active service sonar, it announces exactly who and where you are. Sorry, but between that and 6 jammed tubes, it sounds like your trying to play an arcade game, running around with active sonar on at flank speed. No wonder your dying.
Hundreds of us aren't having those issues. Read the manual, watch some YouTube videos and try again
To the OP: firing angled tubes while your speed is too high has a chance to jam the tube.
From the Damage Control section of in-game help:
Tubes - Individual torpedo tubes can be rendered unusable and cannot be repaired at sea. A torpedo tube will have the wire cut (if one exists) or the weapon within it lost (if one is loaded) upon being knocked out. Some submarines have angled tubes in their sides behind the bow. Attempting to fire an angled tube at higher speeds (20+ knots) has a chance to jam the torpedo, rendering the tube disabled as well as loss of the weapon jammed in the tube.
If they did that I'd be glad to help.

Thehistoricalgamer has some videos where he explains the history of how naval stuff works - not so immediately useful but interesting and good for immersion. :) Here's one on the Narwahl...

... oh and tutorials by this guy. (I don't agree with all his tactics, but he covers a lot of the basics.)

Stick with it, you'll love it.
Stay slow, run silent when ever poss, go dead in the water from time to time you'll get a better sonar picture ;)
mind your layers, change your depth have a listen
if you are screaming around at flank you will jam you tubes and get a lot more wire breaks ;)
I DO creep around on Ultra-Silent, I DON'T use Active except when they've magically painted me with their radar, and I DON'T travel flank speed except when outrunning these omnipotent torpedoes. And thank you to the three of you, (Rule303, pavig, and theCarthaginian) for at least trying to offer constructive help.
