SOSUS suddenly disabled
This happens for the Spitsbergen-Andoya (or whatever they are called) SOSUS barrier.
I am 100% sure that no amphibious force nor special force made it to either end of the barrier ( or any nearby cities. However, after a few missions the barrier suddenly failed, and it remain failed through out the campaign.

Is it because the Soviets made it into Norway (dispite that the battle line still looks quite far away)?

Correct, if the region where a SOSUS barrier makes landfall is captured by the enemy, they will destroy the SOSUS land station there and break that barrier.

Like I said in the top post, I am entirely sure that I didn't.
The devs have answered above, it seems that any invasion into the same region would disable the SOSUS barrier.
