South China sea campaign: I am damaged, out of ammo and the game sends me on a new mission anyway? Maybe it is because I have a few missiles left, but using those is the main reason I am damaged anyway, because I was out of torpedoes before the previous mission already.

Also, it appears that Chinese torpedoes do not lock on Chinese subs? Or is that some new 'feature'? I haven't played the game in a while...

Another remark: I find it strange that the Chinese navy operates in coastal waters of Japan with inpunity in the game. I have a replenishment mission just off the coast of Fukue-jima. Is it the assumption that the Japanese navy and air force been defeated completely?

I think this is just a result of the game not really accounting for “other” friendly units in a campaign! I’m not quite sure what you mean by “operates in coastal waters of Japan with impunity” but I’m guessing you’re referring to the fact that they’re even there. Same is true in the Atlantic campaigns by the Norwegian coastline even though (and we can ask rokvam this question) I’m sure the Norwegian Navy would also be all over that area if war broke out in the Atlantic!

yeah, the campaign should be fixed so that you aren't given missions when you need to repair/rearm - maybe give the player the option to request a return to base before being given new orders

I think, in a real 80's shooting war, the Soviet army, air force and navy, would be all over the northern part of Norway. In RSR they attack in central Europe, but I think they would push for control of the north at the same time. In the 80's they would have been met by 12-14 type 207 submarines, as well as several FPB's with missiles and torpedoes. We would not let them operate in Norwegian waters with impunity.

The plan was for us to hold out long enough for NATO re-inforcements to arrive...
