How do you hit anything with a mk16?
I've been trying to play a 1968 campaign, and have been succesful in using mk37s to take out enemy subs.

Enemy ships are a problem though. I know I can use mk37s, but that takes ages and I want to be proficient in every torp availible to me.

When I use mk16s, I have been using them at a depth of 150 (so I can stay hidden), however with the amount the enemy manouvers as soon as I fire, even with a spread of four torps I still miss. To make matters worse, when the torp would have hit, it will go under the ship.

Because of this I have been going to periscope depth before launch, but even then the torps go under the enemy, doing nothing but scaring the captains, and leaving me open to be bombarded to death by enemy destroyers.

Ive read the guides and am firing from a close distance, with a spread, at as close to 90 degrees from the enemy's path as possible.

So could someone with experiance sinking enemy ships with a mk16 please give me some advice.

SPRAY AND PREY! But seriously using a spread helps (at least 3 torpedoes), get 1600 yards or closer and use them on merchants! You prolly can hit warships with them but I’ve noticed they seem to be able to detect them cause I have a much harder time hitting warships (excluding the Sverdlov which has no sonar).

Addition: I missed the part about the torps going under the ships. I’ve seen this happen with some smaller ships, I guess their draft isn’t deep enough for the torp to hit? I’ve not tried this but you could try editing the “FixedRunDepth” in the weapons.txt file to a lower value then 15. I’ve only noticed this phenomena on some ASW patrol boats (I think the Poti) not against any ships that are my primary target. As a result I don’t worry about it because I just fire Mk. 37’s at escorts (Kashins, Kotlins, Rigas & Potis). The 37’s will never hit the escorts if they run but they don’t need to since escorts are not mission critical targets and all you need is to run them off for safety (and the mk.37 is honestly better for that role).

Mk 16's take 2000m to settle at their correct depth if launched from 150ft. Either fire from 3k or bring the boat up to periscope depth to shoot or they'll pass under the target. :)

Thanks for the help everyone.
One of my problems is that I was trying to take out all enemy ships, rather than just going for my targets.I guess im too used to the 1984 campaign.
Also ill give the increased distance a try
