Question about land strike missions
So I got a mission that told me to strike paracel islands, and I was engaged by some ships near my mission area (70 KYD away). After those ships were sunk by my ADCAPs I fired 8 TLAMs, and I could clearly see the explosion on those structures, but after all of this I was told that my mission is still NOT completed, is it a bug?

Likely, the ships were not your mission. You got jumped. You have to dispatch the ships, exit the mission and continue towards the islands until the actual mission triggers.

Yup, that's it... This happened to me yesterday... You can see the target, but have been jumped by warships.
I suspected this was the case, so I resisted the urge to launch my TLAM'S...

You have to sink the ships, and then exit when possible.

After this, when you move a bit closer to the target, a new mission will start...

Now you can launch your TLAM'S...

Didn’t it used to inform you that “you have reached the mission area” in red type? If you didn’t see that you knew you couldn’t launch just yet!

Yes, and this still apply for Seal insertions, but it has apparently been removed for TLAM strikes...

I think they should put that message back for TLAM missions also. Just to make it clear.

Yeah.... Maybe... A bit torn here to be honest. I have been advocating for better ways to fail our missions than the annoying "time dodo" I have been rating about.

This introduces a way to fail a mission on your own accord...

But for that to be immersive the missiles you launch in the "wrong" mission should miss their target. Not like in this case, where he followed his missiles to target, and watched them hit.

Alternatively we could maybe get a message stating we hit a target, but not the right one... Like when we sink ships outside a mission.

I don't know to be honest... Maybe a message that we are in the target area would be better...

You know if you are in the correct mission because if you press exit at the bottom it says in red Land srtike Not Complete

The "near deployment zone" message when entering a TLAM missions has not been removed.
Is it no longer showing?

It doesn't show up, it only shows up for incertion missions.

However, you can tell if the TLAM is effective by checking "land strike not completed 0/8" from escape menu.
Sometimes you are close enough, but the land attack is not triggered due to running into another fleet, in that case, the message won't show.

Thanks, confirmed that the "near deployment zone" message is indeed broken for land strikes. Turned out when we disabled the target marker on the map it broke that message.
Fixed for next build.
OK thx for that fix :)

One more question, I realized that in land strike missions my sub will be extremely close to the target, rather than just stay like 100 miles away from it as it is required in mission description. Is there anyway I can start such a mission with my ship stays a further away from those bases?

No, they are "canned".
We wanted to give the player the opportunity to do either of the following to succeed in the mission;
a) attack the escorts, then TLAM Strike
b) move out of the area and then TLAM strike from a safe distance
c) TLAM strike and then evade the nearby escorts

Now you could edit the mission files any way you'd like. Just change the coordinates of where the player starts. For example Yulin (INSERTION_LOCATION_16);
PlayerPosition=70,-70

Want to start further south?
Change that to:
PlayerPosition=70,-100
