What is your boat's speed?
Are you above the layer and they below, or vice versa?
What you're talking about isn't a bug... it's just modern submarine warfare against a creative and competent AI. ;)
Campaign, when preventing SSGNs from reaching GIUK-gap.
5kn, running smooth and silent.
This time? Same layer with me being slightly beneath and coming in from behind.
Bug? Later, with me pinging like crazy and cavitating I was expecting to taste torpedoes and/or pinging - yet nothing happened. Therefor, I simply assumed that's this is a bug (even though I'm playing on medium difficulty ;-) ).
What's sad is that it keeps me from finding and killing my objectives. With me getting an "insta"-fail instead.
Seriously, it just seems like you were evaded at long range.
This happens some times - both in real life AND in the 1988 game this one is based upon... and some other sub sims. I've lost entire CONVOYS before in games like 'Aces of the Deep' and 'Silent Hunter III'... and those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ take up 20 miles square and more!
