Battle Animator is now officially coming to Steam.

Battle Animator is a 3D creative tool for building and animating historical battle scenes. It allows you to use your own maps, place historical or modern military units and other battlefield objects, plan their movements, animate the camera, organize battles into phases and chapters, and render the finished scene directly to video.

The project originally started as a tool for my own historical videos, but it gradually developed into something I believe could also be useful to other history creators, teachers, researchers, wargamers and military history enthusiasts.

Battle Animator is already in a highly functional state, but before moving toward a commercial release I want to see how it works in the hands of people who did not design it themselves.

For that reason, the next major step will be a Steam Playtest.

The Playtest will focus mainly on usability, stability, performance, compatibility and feedback on the current workflow. I want to find out where new users get stuck, which tools need improvement and how Battle Animator behaves across different hardware and different types of projects.

After the Playtest and the first round of improvements, the current plan is to release Battle Animator in Early Access. Early Access will focus primarily on refining the existing tools, improving stability and usability, expanding the included assets and continuing development based on community feedback.

The final goal is version 1.0 – a stable, polished and intuitive tool for creating animated battlefield visualizations without the complexity of traditional professional 3D software.

There is still work ahead, but the core of Battle Animator is already here.

If you are interested in the project, add Battle Animator to your Wishlist and follow the Steam page. Information about the upcoming Playtest will be posted here soon.

Thank you for following the development.
