One tile can change which parts of the battlefield your party can reach. This development preview of Tactics to the devil dungeon shows a wet crossing being frozen, then reopened with fire.

The scene takes place in Stage 60, on the narrow strip of grass connecting a stone bridge to a small island.

• Before freezing: the blue movement overlay extends across the wet crossing and onto the island.

• After an ice spell: the crossing becomes impassable. A red X marks the blocked tile, and the island drops out of the character’s reachable area.

• After a fire spell: the ice melts, the route opens again, and the movement overlay reconnects. The character then walks across to the island.

Alongside attack range, elevation, classes, skills, and equipment, these terrain interactions affect how you move your party around the battlefield.

The game is still in development. If you’d like to follow its progress, you can wishlist Tactics to the devil dungeon on Steam.

Does the movement overlay clearly show when the crossing is blocked and when it opens again? We’d like to hear your thoughts.
