As a U.S. military veteran who trained with SEALS, Rangers and Delta Force in Georgia years ago, I can assure you there are plenty of females in black ops, Delta Force, regular special forces, rangers, 82nd airborne, 101st infantry, and even the SEALs. It's not 100% about physical attributes. They do the job like anyone else.
I could agree with that. Theres no need to change physical standards. Women *can* keep up with the average.
I never said anything (If you were talking to me)about that. Everyone has different skills. I think thats pretty well represented in the game with the random stats. Should they adjust the average str down? Up the reflexes or speed? Bravery? How to balance it. And for a game, it DOES need balanced. You dont need balance IRL, but they do need to appeal to a large audience rather than represent real life.
I would not want a mixed gender squad. All males or all females in real life. I do not want my soldiers focusing on trying to impress each other or what kind of underwear their squad mate is wearing. (not a problem in a video game though)
I do not think it is a capability thing. It comes down more to who is suited better for what job. Women are just as capable and smart as men and if trained properly can do the same job as properly trained men.
However if you put heavy armor on most women, they won't be able to move effectively, so men are more suited for some stuff as women are better suited for some as well but most of this is just physical limitations that are inherit.
In this game setting I do not think it would be reasonable to exclude women as we need the best of the best and certainly that includes everyone regardless of traditional roles.
This is not medieval times where strength and endurance are the primary combat attributes needed, intelligence and agility and accuracy with guns mean way more in modern era, which makes women more then capable.
I understand what you are saying. I agree with alot of what you say. Heres a few things to think about.
1. You dont want your soldiers focusing on impressing people, or guessing underwear, or fantasizing about sex (I added that), etc.
This is something you can train out of people. And if you cant, you dont have quality soldiers. I know its *easier* to exclude women, because its always been done, but its a new age, with technology that covers the gaps between sexes mate.
2. Women arent as strong as men, so heavy kit will always be a problem.
-This is used by almost everyone arguing to exclude women from active service. First off, keep physical requirements as high as needed to assure this doesnt happen, but give women a chance to try to pass them. And when they do, dont treat them differently. I would agree with your point, except for the fact that you dont give an option for the women who *can* carry that heavy kit. And most kit is now MOLLE which is something most women could easily carry. Adding on any other equipment would be for a specialist mission, I dont see it happening enough to exclude a full gender based off a possibility.
All in all, it made sense in the past to exclude women from active combat. It doesnt anymore. But again, for gaming purposes, do what you want.
I don't mind if there are female soldiers but I would prefer them to adjust the frequency at which they appear.
Last I checked they recruit from special forces and most special forces have a high washout rate especially for the few women that apply and that's not taking into account that several of the countries in the game don't allow women in the special forces yet.
Make it a 1/20 male to female ratio think of it like getting a shiny in Pokemon.
Making the incels mad turns out to be one of the best things about this game.
Loved this! Don't forget Teyla.
