Has there been a change? My last 4 terror missions had the last 1 or 2 aliens hiding somewhere without moving until you found them. I don't remember this happening in prior games. This is boring because one alien can hide in a tiny black square which means an exhaustive search. I'm sure this never happened in early games where all the aliens were very aggressive. For me this adds boredom to terror missions.

There might of been a change between milestones. But right now you're on the mark, the alien AI is pretty much brain dead or nonexistant unless there's a friendly or player unit in the vincity. you can check this when you can do a map reveal in base missions (player or alien base), they just stay in the same place or wander aimlessly untill you get close.
Thank you. I was a little confused when on my last terror mission I couldn't find the last alien. Finally saw him, a reaper, hiding behind a bush. That is not usual reaper behavior. Another time I had cleared a large building all except one small black square. My soldier walked right by the square so I figured that it was empty. A little later one of my soldiers was killed by an alien coming from that building who must have been in the one black square I didn't check. He couldn't have been anywhere else. So that is why I thought the alien behavior must have been changed by the devs. Interesting.
It did also happen in the original Xenonauts game
And in the original XCOMs
I remember that the original Xenonauts game had a full map reveal (for terror missions specifically) after 30 turns I believe, so it wasn't as annoying
But the AI likes holding up in a corner quite frequently

The AI can see your fog of war. Reapers especially are programmed to hide in fog of war tiles. If a reaper cannot reach a target in one turn and still have time units to attack you, they often do not move.

I really liked that full map reveal after so many turns. Saved me the boring task of looking under every bush for the last enemies.
I do honestly think the full map reveal after long enough on a terror mission should come back, in theory you can just stay in a closed off area and wait out the timer, but you could also do that in the original xenonauts. Though I do feel there should be some incentive to be quick on them, like a bonus of either income or direct cash from the country it happened in the more civilians you manage to save. Terror mission don't feel like... Well, terror missions anymore, they are a regular mission with many civilians and some allied support.

It NEEDS to come back. Terror missions in their current state are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ exhausting enough as is, let alone needing to each building and nade enough walls to find the 2 reapers ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in the back of the super market.
