UOO-1 Bridge Attack (5.27.0)
OK, first of all, if you haven't gotten to the UOO-1 mission and you want to be surprised, maybe stop reading here.

I did the first UOO-1 mission, whereby I took 14 of the disks before I split. It wasn't too easy, but after one reload I managed it.

I just tried the UOO-1 Bridge Attack mission and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Here are some issues:

1. There seems to be no way to control who goes. On this one, I had six machines (Ares, Mars and Sentry) and six humans. It didn't match what I had in my Pegasus, although there was some overlap.

2. Is the mainframe the big globe thingy in the white room? That's interesting, but some additional briefing material would be nice. It's also pretty easy to get blown up real good as every alien and their brother is firing at you and is liable to toast it.

3. I could try a few more reloads for the learning experience, but at this point I'm not sure how to complete the mission. Not having 16 people and/or machines of my choosing makes this one very tough. Even just defeating everything in the white room would be tough enough.

Here are some parameters:

A. Soldier difficulty.
B. 5.27.0
C. All soldiers are colonels and have plasma weapons and Vanguard armor.

Great game, of course, and it had been going quite easily up to this point (will do the next higher level of difficulty next time). If anyone has any comments it would be appreciated.

Cheers,
CB

I should say the soldiers have "fusion weapons" rather than "plasma."

You can choose who goes before you launch the mission, but you're still limited to 12 operatives/robots. You're not using the transport, so you need to check the list to avoid having the game just randomly select them for you.
What I do on this mission is split half my squad to flank in both directions. There is better cover on the sides than going up the middle and getting flanked yourself. Bring a SHIZ ton of grenades, and have your robotic units stay near the bottom to lob rockets to remove cover and weaken aliens.
Muchas gracias. I went back and I found where you can "unassign" each device/person in the soldier box before the mission and assign a new one. I was missing that part. With 12 picked soldiers the mission should be tough, but doable.

I found it pretty easy, everything is very close. Kill the generators and initial aliens with a couple of guys in each direction while a main force clears the main room. I found it best to hang back in the first room and shoot from range.

Once you're set up in the middle overwatch should take care of the reinforcements... it's quite satisfying to just sit back and watch.

I took 3 shotguns for the generators and to cover the doors and the rest snipers and heavies.

I blew up the globe but it survived so no problem.

Plot Spoiler: To capture the eternal I had to put it in a backpack.. when it was unconscious on the floor it didn't come back to base.
