Is there a way to shoot at structures with the grenade launcher?
I want to open a "window" in a building, is there any way I can aim my grenade launcher at the ground instead of directly at an enemy?

Depending on why you want to open the window:

1) If you want to get through it, your character will automatically smash windows as they move along.

2) If you want to create a firing line, then holding down ctrl will bring up the shooting grid with a percentage chance to hit.

Another neat thing you can do btw, that is kinda related... When you're mapping out the move path for a character, when you select the firing type for their weapon - if you hold down shift it'll show you the hit chance for the location you're thinking of moving them to. Also, if you hit ctrl at the same time you'll get free aim as well.

Does all that make sense? I feel like I explained it badly haha!

yeah you selection the attack option, and hold control, now you are in free aim mode.

in fact the grenade launcher was very bugy for me i thought i can only do free aim mode with it.

FWIW, machine guns also pretty well smash walls (as they should be) if they manage to hit the tile several times.

Mars does a good job on walls if you use it. I like to blow things up so I usually use all 6 rockets every mission. I wish it had reloads but I guess that would be just too much destruction. But fun:}

i think laser weapons punch thru walls and open up " windows" as well.

Yes, but it takes several shots to do it. Sometimes 5 or 6.
