Colossus armor is good
I see no problem with this armor. It doesn't make an uber soldier and can only carry a machine gun. Even though the hit points is only 10 more than guardian armor you can still load him up with plenty of ammo and really tear things up. I always take 1 or 2 machine guns anyway and with this armor you can carry enough ammo to level a city. I agree, though, the armor should be more than 40.

You can upgrade it later to 70 armor.

Thank you. 70 would put it far above the Mars vehicle even. Maybe too much. I'll have to try it.

The problem is you can already get your soldiers to 100 strength, which makes the downsides of the armor outweigh the small armor increase. And yes, 70 armor is not much when alien plasma hits for 100+ Not getting hit is a far better end-game strategy then being able to take one extra hit (if lucky), because bad RNG can still get you one-hit in Colossus armor.

You mention that strength can be up to 100 but how does that relate to armor? Some of my soldiers do have 100 strength but only 30 armor and can get no more without colossus suit. So far my colossus has been lucky and suffered only minor injury.

The last armor you develop will give you 50 protection and 12 TUs that let you exceed the 100 training cap. (Just double checked, these 12 points don't increase the weapon firing TU percentage costs. 75 TU for a 10x burst on a 100TU troop is still 75 TU on a 100TU troop with 112 due to Vanguard armor) Unlocking it also gives you an engineering project to boost your Colossus suits to 70.

At that point, it becomes a trade off of 20 armor and the ability to bulldoze objects for the cost of being able to use grenades/pistols/modules/equipment, full vision, the free TUs, and the ability to non-destructively cross cover objects.
