X2 Outlands Mod
Hi All,

I have released the first update for the Outlands mod:

Until we get workshop support and Mod SDK support the updates will be limited to minor tweaks and balances.

First release is to alter a few things I have seen raised by newer players. If you are a vet of X1, this might not be for you, but I think it's important to really build up the player base from all skill ranges.

Right now, just a small change to funding, altered to better show GDP of each nation, US is slightly higher than USSR, EU is slightly more than other states, some states remain unchanged.

Monthly report also reduces panic slightly, this is to represent briefing the world leaders reducing their panic.

All of these will change in the future, but in the games current state this felt like a good compromise.

Well done @Ninja! I, for one, am looking forward to more tweaks, and additions to the game. 👍👍 10⭐
1. Going Prone and being able to Crawl would be an interesting one. But Line-of-Sight of that crawler might need upgrading too?
2. Minimal Training ability, if no Training Facility is built, would be good too. Troops in the field, get stronger, more accurate, and healthier (if not shot up) on finishing missions.
I have more thoughts, but this will suffice for now. :steamhappy:

Stat based edits are pretty much all I can do right now, I have a good understanding of the files though and have some additional edits I am working on right now. Trying to balance it a little better towards newer players, without it feeling like a cheat.

Once the mod tools are released hopefully soon I can look at adding models / art etc that I've been working on. Hopefully it's not too much removed from the unity process.

Appreciate the feedback though, thank you. If anyone has any additional suggestions please do feel free to add them.

Thanks for the informative reply. Will the Stat Based Mod target Min-Max for individual Stats on All Recruits? Or be used on individual basis for each of the Soldiers that players already have at bases?
Being able to set the Min-Max of all recruits, would be a great boon to the game. Like recruiting Veteran Soldiers who have combat experience and training already. Personally, if I could, I would cap it at 40 to 50 Minimum, and 65 to 75 Maximum.

There is quite a bit of the game editable stat wise through JSON files already, I can also see a considerable amount of things not yet implemented such as events etc.

Regarding recruits, it is possible yes to edit the areas you talk about through the starting pool and recruits you start with in the strike team. I have been toying with adjusting the starting strike team to be a little more realistic (Colonel to lead, correct officers etc) but my goal is not to make things easy, it is to give a nicer variation so I'm still testing this aspect.

It was the same with the region funds, I didn't like how some nations like US & USSR were the same flat fund, so a slight change there which will likely change in the future as more content comes from the developer and they flesh out mid to late game content.

Alongside squad variation testing I am currently working on some models that I can hopefully implement once mod tools are in, these will be 1970s tech. I'll probably upload some updates to those on Moddb at some point.
