Retrieve 10 cleaner disks mission is bad, really bad!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2929636548

Got 3 of them in a row, killed over 100 enemies and the reinforcements just got bigger!

It is like timed missions that everyone hated on xcom 2 and they had to increase the time limit, 5 turns to get 10 disks is impossible! I decided to just kill everyone and it was also impossible!
I decided to abort, got the last surviving member to the ship and excrated, now, everyone is back alive because I had an infarmary? wtf?

I haven't gotten that mission yet...

But why would you expect to get the disks before the reinforcements start to arrive? That's not what the mission is about.

They give -10 terror to the territory where they spam, if you get 10 disks + 25k for each disk after that.
The problem is that the disks are all over the map, you already land in a hot zone where you face a lot of enemies, and when you finish cleaning and reach the computters, the enemy is already respawning badly!

I got the high ground, grenade lanchers, and even after 30 kills the still kept coming!
All the others were running getting disk and I already accept 3 causalities, I am a 25+ xcom veteran, beated almost all xcom games and clones, but this one is really hard to me, the game default difficult is already classic on new xcom games, but this mission... I really need someone to tell me how to win it with few causalities.

Just did this mission, was in and out fairly easy. Bounding movements. lost nobody except for a Mars unit. Its not about standing and fighting. Its a quick smash and grab, just have to get in far enough to grab disks then get the heck out using cover to shield your dudes from enemy fire.

I save scummed the hell out of this stage, trying to kill all of the enemies. I spent probably 2 solid hours going at it, until I randomly clicked on the mission briefing when trying to reload a game and found out that enemies just infinitely spawn....

Especially for that point in the game, that's an extremely difficult level. Not impossible, mind you, but especially for people who have never played a game like this, it's going to feel like an end-game mission.

How could you read that mission brief and conclude that that approach made any sense? It's a completely clear presentation that this is a grab-and-run situation where the enemy forces will be holding the site in the end.

I beat the mission on the first try on max difficulty without reloads.
It's a hard mission and I lost 4 guys though...

Focus on the objective... which is to grab the data from the desks!

And use smoke and crouching to cover your ninja grabs!
(Tips in hindsight, I didn't bring many smokes for this and I was carrying stun guns lol :D)

Edit: Made a clip for anyone interested

Beat on veteran first try. Instructions said get in and out quick, so smash and grab before reinforcements arrive. Nine of the data disks are easy to get, and the additional data seem strategically placed where confrontation is required. I really enjoyed that design decision, genuinely. Lost 2 soldiers. TBF, I've been deploying from Skyranger since Enemy Unknown on PS1. Two casualties is 2 too many.

Lost one unit on this and it was likely my fault. I didn't get any extra disks though, just the minimum 10. I am really liking the demo, so far

We've balanced this mission a bit in the most recent demo patch so it's easier if you research it straight away (previously it assumed you've got the MARS or at least some gear upgrades, so it's quite hard if you try to do it right away), and we've also added a bit more text to the mission briefing to make it clear that you can't win the mission by elimination.

In a future build we'll also add a talking head when the reinforcements start arriving making sure the player understands they need to get back to the dropship.

I think it's quite a fun mission but I do understand how people might find it confusing in its current state, which probably isn't a very fun experience!

I petition the talking head is the OP surrounded by empty magazines, calling for an emergency extract. jk

Thanks for the awnser, I got 1 kill cleaner mission, 1 ufo shot down mission and 3 retrive disks mission after that! No time to research anything. Just got aerial combat after before the third one.

I will give the game another try, I really love xeno since the first one and I hope the community feedback will make the game more appealing to everyone and more clear on the objectives, killing is always the awnser!

Did I end the demo by trying to do the hyperdrive research? Should I go back and try to get more missions? I mostly only got UFO shootdown missions.

I got done in because a guy carrying like six discs got his head turned into a canoe and I must have missed if there was a way to reclaim dropped stuff in the tutorial.

It says at the beginning of the mission that you can pick the dropped stuff off dead bodies if they carried any sticks

Just open the inventory on top of a dead guy by clicking a "Backpack" icon on bottom right of an UI
