Merrick Jaeger: from Demo Cheese to Release Terror

In the demo we got glimpse of Merrick Jaeger, with his Schrage Musik and unique upside down use of it, big deal you have a dorsal turret to take care of of his fancy flying. And in the demo it seems to be so easy to take him out.

On the release version however, Merrick is a different beast, the bastard targets your wings first, then makes a strafing run from tail to front, hitting all your crew. Before you know it, several of your engines are on fire, and your tail gunners are down, while you go tend to him, your pilot gets shot down as well. Outstanding

Then again when i first met him i hadnt lost a single crew (i only ever lost 1 crew engineer because i emergency dived while he was repairing an engine)

I just got my top gunner to load ap and use focus and his health went down so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ quick barely took 2 sec


Tip for focus

Only use it when planes are flying directly at you else its pretty ineffective

By the time I faced him, my bomber and crew was just 6 missions old. So I have no AP as of yet, and my guns being a modest .302mm x 4. That might account to that XD

I faced him with a 2x .50 on the top. Like woah said, shot him down so fast it was a joke. Didn't even have ammo types either, just good old fashioned focus.

Same here only crew i lost in the game. first real mission. went from med to low and he flew off

Defating Aces seems to be more of a timing issue. I had problems shooting down Ace number 2 with .302mm x 2 because they could not hit him. A few missions later i made a simple curse correction and he had to fly a few meters behind me -> hew was down in seconds.

Just in case: Try to fight them 1vs.1. Fly for a short time into an enemy zone and leave it again. Use lean+ to gain more time.

Aces are easy to kill if they are attacking from behind if you use gunners focus abilities just before they start the attack run. The ace flies into a wall of lead and blows up.
