Radio Op learns Auto Tag at level 6, but it doesn't recharge fast enough for everything. I use it mainly to either focus on bombing runs or because I'm feeling too lazy to tag a wave.
Untagged enemies show up as green blips briefly, you can look for those. Set your tagging mode sensitivity as high as you can manage (ESC then Controls). The better radar you can unlock, the farther away you can tag and faster the blips come along.
Tagged enemies have red crosshairs around them, so ignore those. Untagged enemies only get markers (beside blips) if you point in their direction for a bit, then they have exclamation marks until they're tagged.
You can also look at the radar in the bottom right, it'll show you the direction of the planes before you tag them. Again, faster radar helps. From L3 radar onwards you'll be getting radars powerful enough that you can tag enemies on the sides and they won't even attack you unless you go to them, since they won't spot you.
Tip for tagging enemies. Stay in tagging mode when you expect them, easier to tag them on the first blip then. Otherwise just watch out for messages "enemies spotted on radar" and switch to tagging then, or hit your auto tag.
Add me if you want an aging fix for all of your action based games.
Devs should take a look at B17 The Mighty 8, good balancing with the micro management in that game. Fighter should get auto attacked when in range by the crew (healing them, hauling ammo fixing stuff manually is ok), but tagging those planes is a pita when there is already so much going on.
And please a STABLE bomber inside view, wobblin around gives alot of missclicks and just makes it frustrating trying to target anything.
I've just applied for a refund. Shame really this game could have been fun but it turned out into a exercise in frustration.
I watched The Mighty Jingles play it and had the same worries most people are concerning over. He left the bomb bay doors open because he was so frantically clicking on just about everything at the same time.
The game does say fast paced, so that was a warning for myself. Shame it looks like an interesting game but fast paced/timed things don't go well with me.
My Lancaster is fully upgraded, and my crew have full protective vests...
If you complain about manual tag, just wait to see a situation that even auto-tag isn't enough!
Once I see jets I smash the Boost button and hope to God my bomber gets back to England. Give up on focus fire with your gunners and instead have them do Defense in the hopes of suppressing the bastards. They absolutely come from anywhere D: D: D:
In theory you could catch an enemy jet if he's behind you. Have your tail gunner focus, and have your mechanic boost. This will almost match your speeds and prolongs the time that jet is under your gunner's crosshair. But that's just a theory.
I do corkscrews a lot, and when those are on cooldown, try to mix up things with emergency dives....its difficult! Like I wrote before, only approach I haven't tried is that defensive firing option.
Sure the jets are fast enough to still hit and attack you. But it shortens the duration of the trip.
