Bomber Crew

Lost everything!?
Is there a way to not lose everything you've bought when you crash?

I spent a good 4 hours making my bomber better and crashed it because I accidentally ordered my pilot out of his seat. I understand losing your crew members but all your bomber upgrades too!? Thats just obsurd.

It is rather hard. I lost it all a couple of times.
i lost a plane and crew(not sure how one thing i was fine next thing plowed into the ground, probs accidently brought pilot to do something without realising, all were killed lol). When i got my new plane however it had mk2 armor and engines(i had been mk 3)so at least you dont start from the basics

Yup - I lost my initial setup and spent about 2 hours trying to grind back the gear / crew / plane. Still haven't recovered from that crash. Most likely I am an idiot but it's odd that just creating a new game seems to be a faster "reset" than to keep playing after a major crash.

You do get a few random upgrades for your new plane. You also keep the ventral turret if you have one. What bugs me is that i have to start again with an incompetent n00b as navigator who can´t set a course unless he can read the streetsigns on the ground.

It definitely seems a bit harsh. Especially if you crash in England.

Maybe the game could give us a partial recoup, so we can configure the new plane as we want? Or give equipment a random survival chance like with crew?

Because being able losing so much progress due to one mistake, in a rather frantic game like this, seems very annoying

Yeah one I time I lost my plane when landing on the runway because I had lost one of my landing gears and when the plane landed it tipped to the right and exploded, the crew all survied though, but I had to start basically from scratch. However similar landings in the future I pressed the emergency landing button and the plane didn't explode and only lost a wing so maybe pressing emergency landing triggers something in the game to make the plane more resilient when hitting the ground.

Every new plane or batch of new recruits scales up with your current campaign progression. I'm on progression 3 and almost all new batch of recruits have at least level 3-4 and planes with varying upgrades from all level 3 armour fuselage, to good turrets, to decent engines, etc.

The loss doesn't sting as much, but the game doesn't give you daisies either. I try to focus on keeping my pilot, radio operator and at least one gunner alive (via survival kits) since some of their skills are essential for later missions.

I've lost three aircraft so far, yes it hurts but imo that is good.
If we could just get everything back it would lessen the game imo as you wouldn't care about crashing.

+1 also thankful that the game doesn't allow you to save scum, but on the opposite side - the losses don't hurt as badly as compared to other games.

Alt + F4 before it saves and it reverts you to before the mission when you launch the game again

this game is so easy man.. my dudes are lvl 7/9 already. i dont see why you guys think its hard..

Lost 2 crews so far, both by inadvertently ordering the pilot out of his seat. Please can the game have a confirmation that the pilot wants to leave his position! It's so annoying. And, all the saved games I did mean nothing because you can't reload the previous save, as it saves current progress over the top. It's very dispiriting.

Quite frankly I'd rather not play it than use alt+f4, it would just utterly spoil it for me and make playing it pointless.

It's up to personal preference really.

If my plane was to crash and burn because I made a small mistake on the runway, I probably would Alt+F4 out, because I don't want to play another five missions just to climb my way back to my current position. Especially since any of those missions might end up with a similar disaster and set me back even further.
