Having 1 wheel gone is not a death sentence, as in the case above, plane and crew safe and recovered.
THIS IS FOR DOING BELLY-FLOPS ONLY.
1) Make sure you’ve dropped all your bombs or you’ll possibly explode like a powder-keg on contact with the ground. Additionally, make sure fuel is balanced left to right, this will help from wings clipping and rupturing fuel tanks.
2) When you know the landing strip icon should appear soon start to climb to high alt, and be at medium. This is only for if you have enough chutes to bail out all but your pilot.
3) Get a navigational lock on runway and make sure your pilot is locked into his seat, and have at least 8 parachutes. If you are short on chutes, move the ball turret gunner to one of the other open stations.
4) As soon as you get the lock on the runway start the crew bailing. This should be done from medium and higher altitude.
5) Lower remaining landing gear, so you don’t get flagged off. When close to coming in click “Emergency Landing” and raise the gear. You should then land on or near the runway in a belly-flop.
I've made a tutorial in another thread about landing with 1 wheel:
- pump all the fuel from the wheel-missing-side to the side with wheel intact and drop the remaining bombs
- lower landing gear
- land as usual
the problem is that 99,99% of the players don't think about the fuel...which is, surprisingly, highly flammable / explosive (who would have known ???)
Did all that. My Lanc, being in pretty nice condition overall except for lacking one engine and one wheel, disintegrated on landing nonetheless.
I'll test with the Lanc on the occasion.
Landed three times with one wheel on the Lanc.
1. Blew up, all crew killed.(Bombs on board, low fuel but not transferred)
2. Wing and tail fell apart, plane destroyed, 2 KIA. (No bombs, No Fuel (0 Mins flight time left))
3. Heavy wing damage, Plane survived, all crew survived. (No bombs, fuel transferred)
