Bomber Crew

Can't hit the broad side of a dam
I'm not doing too badly but have hit a bit of a wall in my progress; I can't seem to land the bouncing bomb on target. I have repeatedly attempted to line the circles up over the crosshairs but have blown it every time, excluding the one practice run I hit it on that disallowed me from practicing any more :( . At this point it seems like a ♥♥♥♥ spiral where I blow he mission then on account of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around get my bomber and crew wrecked then have to start again with a mostly new crew, new bomber until I'm built up enough to attemot and fail the mission again. Rinse. Repeat. It seems that on some of the approaches the two circles don't line up over the crosshairs at all. I've been using the ctrl to slow things down but it doesn't seem to make a difference. What am I doing wrong? If it keeps up much longer I'm going to need more memorial slabs :( .

Well, the lights don't need to be in the center of aim apparatus. You need to release the bomb when two lights converge into one -- you'll have several opportunities on approach, at least 3. Slowing time can help, too.

Going lean can give you some extra time on a bombing run. Does make the whole thing a bit more dangerous though.

Hitting Lean+ repeatedly got me to dam without a hitch. My crew was outfitted with decent thermal wear and oxygen so we flew most of the mission at high altitudes out of harms way. The first time I attempted the mission I wasn't so careful with my fuel and crashed into the cliffs of Dover :( . I actually touched down just off the coast and was hydroplaning and thought my crew, maybe even the bomber wasn't going to get smashed. Then we hit the shore and exploded. The second time I was watching for the two circles to line up with the sight (I shouldn't have) and swung back around for a second pass. As a result I was going dangerously low on fuel but got peppered so badly I got shot down less than half way home. It's not attempting the mission again that's so bad, but having to grind a bunch of jobber flights to get my new bomber and crew up to level they can try again.
Hit lean on take off. I use my mech as ventral turret gunner and lean once or twice on the way to the target. Navigate at high or medim alt, dive when you spot the target and wait for the convergence. But it's always the same, when your plane start to climb (your at low altitude but your plane start climb right before lose the momentum to release the bom) do your job. Can't miss it. I did it 10 times now and only miss the target on my fisrt attempt. .

And I have a suspicion you shouldn't be on either lean or boost on the dam run. Right now, on the test mission, I missed the fake dam despite the perfect drop timing -- but I was on lean, and also can vaguely remember same happening on earlier playthroughs.

I've got a stronger bomber than ever and my crew is pretty tight too. I'll be making the dam run again shortly
