Bomber Crew
If you liked this you should check out 50 Mission Crush
50 Mission Crush was an old game for the Commodore 64 computer in the 80s. It was basically a more realistic, turn based version of this with a B-17.

(sorry, couldn't find any footage that doesn't have someone blasting awful music over it)

A big difference was that it was more hardcore in that the goal was simply surviving 50 missions.
Or rather, you the pilot surviving 50 missions; crew members and bombers were replaceable but if you lost your pilot it was instant game over.

It was SUPER tense reaching your target and having to run the flak gauntlet (6:50 in the video). You just had to sit there watching the shells explode and praying they didn't hit anything vital.

I'd highly recommend hunting down a Commodore 64 emulator and giving it a try. It's one of the only C64 games I would still consider playable to this day. There was also an old solitaire board game called "B-17: Queen of the Skies" that was the exact same thing, also a fun tense exercise in hoping your poor bomber limps home.

:pilot4: Yeah 50 Mission Crush was great. I wish Bomber Crew would go towards that more realistic route rather than arcade.

Someone made an emulator for B-17: Queen of the Skies that I have been using for a few years, it's a ton of fun if you liked the pen and paper version. It has instructions included and is fairly simple to play once you figure it out. I have yet to have a bomber survive 25 missions, closest I've come is 15, never w/ original crew though lol.

Here's the guys site: http://prestonm.com/b-17-queen-of-the-skies/

BTW those familiar with 50MissionCrush might also be familiar with AvalonHill's Achtung Spitfire. If interested, theres a modern remake of it called The Few http://store.steampowered.com/app/300320/The_Few/

I would think B-17 The Mighty 8th would be more in-line with a ultra realistic bomber crew.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. There..I said it. This game scales automatically. The better you do, the tougher your opponent becomes. You CANNOT win this game, and anyone that has ever claimed to have won is a liar. I am so deeply plssed at this game, and the developers. They wanted a brutally difficult roguelike, and that's exactly what they programmed. Terrible game.
