Bomber Crew
What's the point?
Even the simplest, shorted missions have me failing to get the basics done in time, selecting the crew is a nightmare and finding the fighters is next to impossible when the first thing that get knocked out is my radar. Last time I saw this was when my PC outclocked my friend on his mac in Warcraft II, is the clock cycle managed properly on this game? where are the options for simplicity and slowness over the whole game?

Take your time with it - run the easy missions a few times and try to relax when things start happening. Hitting Ctrl will slow the game down for a moment (on a cooldown), & you can quickly switch between the crew members using 1 thru 7 keys (I even renamed their last names to their numbers to make it easier).

Reload for the gunners can be accomplished quickly by selecting them and hitting R. Sending any crew member to the med bay is F. Change the equipment to have at least one medkit in case a member goes down, have a crew member grab it, then send them to the one who's downed.

Do some easy missions a few times (you can run the non-critical missions over and over) and it will start to be less hectic, there's actually more time to react to stuff than it feels like. As you progress, the team will level up and make all the stressful aspects a little easier (such as an auto-tag ability on your radar guy).

It's less about shooting down other planes as it is about keeping the crew alive and getting those bomb/photo targets. I will usually put my bomber in his seat before take-off and leave the bomb-bay doors open with the one bomb I need selected so it's ready and even a failure won't stop me).

It can certainly be hard to keep track of all the stuff at once, but it gets easier if you're give it some time.

I just bought the game and was a little overwhelmed at first as well, Col. Korn has some good tips, I'd also recommend the videos from Cougarific that explain some of the fundamentals of the game.

Yeah, it can BECOME overwhelming if you are a little too slow to attend to things or put off stuff too often. Some of the -ve reviews are obviously from folks utterly new to games like this.

Practice and experience will get you back to base though ^_^. Besides, the more challenging the battle, the more rewarding the victory?

It's a good introduction game (and it gets pretty challenging later on) to other 'management' or 'time-management' games in the vein of FTL.

PS Each mission plays out pretty much the same, down to when events pop-up. So if you fail it, you can restart and have a pretty good idea what's about to happen.

For the record, I was doing the easy missions and still getting walloped and shot down (despite tagging enemy aircraft in time and ensuring guns were loaded). The icons to alert to changes are very small and the audio clues are difficult to hear. I have played games like this before, so I am not a newbie. I still think my hex core CPU is ramping up the speed too much and I can't react fast enough. How do I ease the settings?

Where is the training for administering first aid to someone else? I can't stuff around and learn it while try to repair and rearm at the same time with other crew members.

first few missions are pita until you put 20mm cannon on your tail. You probably will loose few bombers before you even unlock it with research points. Also, your tail is going to take the most damage, so you have to upgrade armor there and on the wings asap. What else... navigator has two most important abilities in this game - he marks Danger Zones on the map and allows you to set custom waypoints on the map. I think each time you enter the danger zone (or get close enough) squadron of 3 fighters spawns. Very often those zones intersect, so it's easy to spawn really high number of fighters in very short time, so you need to use his abilities to avoid the unnecessary risk. I've just finished second critical mission, using my 4th plane during this playthrough - i fought maybe 10-15 fighters, but only once more than 3 in the same time. Plus i barely took any damage - maybe there was like 15 holes on my fuselage and only one engine caught fire. Everything else on the scheme was intact, blue

After reaching certain levels each class can get a secondary class, you can pick the medic class there (this is located on the training menu). But anyone can revive downed party member you just need to order them to take the medkit off one of the equipement racks and then tell them to heal the downed party member. Medics do this better (even get a nice ability later on) and when they revive someone they revive them to 100% hp.

Reducing the sensitivity settings was the big thing that made the game playable for me. I was swaying too hard on the default settings that I kept overshooting enemy fighters when tagging them, and I died a lot on the early missions.

As for upgrades: armor, then guns, then hydraulics. After that try to get radar level up. I'd also say ignore survival gear, but I save scum by quitting out of the game if things get too bad. If you're playing 'for real', you may have a different opinion.
