50x2 Mk2 or .303x4 Mk3

Currently mid way through the game, is it imperative to at least have one 50x2 MK on the bomber for armored aircraft? or can I just upgrade to .303x4 seeing that it does more damage. The game isn't to clear about how the enemy aircraft armor works..

I’ve switched from the .303x4 to the .50x2 with the new belt feeds and haven’t noticed a real loss in defense despite the difference in DPS. If they’re anything like real life you should have a longer effective range and better penetration with a .50.

I haven't figured out the underlying mechanics of armour and damage, but you definitely don't need .50s – .303s do the job fine against armoured aircraft, especially with Focus + AP or Incendiary ammo.

x4: more damage, dead in less than a belt if all bullets land on target.

I stick with the 303s until the belt feed 50x4.

I have noticed even if the larger caliber weapons do less DPS they cause more damage whn they hit.

IMHO the best set up is placing the higher caliber weapons on the nose and tail with the 303's in the middle. At least until the belt fed 50s then all my guns are them.

well damn, i kinda dont like the .50 cal cuz its so low ammunition, 303x4 guns is a balance between the .303 and .50

it only takes 1/4 of the ammunition to murder enemy airplane if your gunner is high level
