What happens when you click on Bail out?
I presume all crew grab a parachute if one is available and they all bail out?

Also what happens if you click on Abort?

Bail out? They tend to all die in my experience :(

Abort will cancel the mission objectives and your navigator will find a route back to base. You can cancel an abort and regain the mission objectives too.

Abort = return to base.
Bail out = each crewman that has a parachute grabs it and jumps. Pilot last. This does not really work.

Why is that? is it because at low altitude there isnt enough time for them to walk to parachute and then walk to door? perhaps best used at high altitude? but of course if you need to bail you havent got time to wait for higher altitude.

Also you said crewman who have a parachute grabs it and jumps...how can they grab it if they are already holding it? i presume you have to order each crewmember to take a parachute and then you can give the bail order? which seems like if the plane is angled into a dive it might be difficult to order them to take a paracute individually??

Wouldnt i be better if you click on Bail they will each go and grab nearest Parachute? (bit like musical chairs if there is none they are out of luck- and those nearest to one are the luckly ones) this would save the problem of accidently clicking on the wrong crewman or item because the plane is going into a dive or other popups on the screen such as warnings etc..

If you have parachutes on board, then saying "bail out!" will make all crew members scramble to grab those parachutes, then run out the nearest exit.

Here is what happens when you click 'Bail Out':

Crew members, except for the pilot, will go to the nearest parachute, grab it, and exit the bomber. For the pilot to bail out, you have to manually click on a parachute, and click on any parachute icon outside the aircraft (similar to the cross icon when you heal/recover downed crewmembers).

Note, however, if the bomber is in a nose dive or any similar maneuver, crew members won't be able to jump out. Mid altitude is best for bailing I found it, as Low Alt = death and High Alt = crew will land too far from the aircraft and lose survivability bonuses.

So this is actually only really useful when you appear to run out of fuel and bring the aircraft up to mid alt? So you can make a safe bail out?

And if you have fewer chutes than crewmembers, do they get really motivated to get one and FINALLY move faster than snails?

I think the devs should make crewmembers move faster than they do now. especially when in urgent situations.

You can emergency land when you appear to run out of fuel. Make sure you have landing gears down.
Bail Out only useful when both your landing gears are broken. You cannot land the bomber without a landing gear. Crash landing will kill your crew.
You can Bail Out at Low Alt safety. If you bail out on the airfield, your crew will 100% survive and return.
