Umm What just happened?
In the middle of a mission, just bombed the airport and on my way back to base. Decided to do a corkscrew to buy sometime to keep the bad guys off me and my plane just nose dived into the ground killing everyone!?

No warning or anything, just face plant...

Damage to plane, ie tail section, wings and you do corkscrew can cause plane to break apart

may I ask if you tried this maneuver while you were low? if so that did it. otherwise you ran out of fuel and or your ailerons/rudder were far to damaged to handle anymore G's.

Fuel was good, but maybe the tail was damaged, i didnt notice if it was red...

Sometimes corkscrewing a healthy plane at low altitude will cause a crash into the ground.

Honestly, rarely use corkscrew. It's rarely useful. It throws off your gunners aim, it resets your waypoint, and it changes your course to a random direction. I generally prefer to use Boost to put enemies into a pursuit angle. Gunners are far more accurate against planes to the rear.

Corkscrew is good to to avoid rockets.
