Of course those who need to walk around often (mainly the engineer) also need the bottle because they never stay too long at their own post. But the thing is that O2 is only a factor when reaching very high altitude and at that moment there is very little reason to actually have someone out on the wings to fix an engine or something. So in the grand scheme of things O2 is basically a non factor in this game.
So in grand scheme of things many people use O2 system and it is factor for them. I mean read like 3 guides all satating you can go up high to evade some fighters and the flack so there are people doing it on harder missions. Oh and thsi question is still unanswered and I want to know now I havent hit that point yet but I am ready for it with OT tanks on my guys already, be nice to know if I do go high alt the limitations.
Over certain altitude you have to supply oxygen to crewmembers. If they are seating in stations and O2 system works, they got it from the bomber.
If the O2 system fails, you see icons flashing over crewmen, that they urgently need oxygen and soon their health will drop down.
On this high altitude, if any crewmember has to move between stations, he needs O2 as well. Therefore he has to be equipped with O2 bottle. Then during moving inside the plane, or repairing engine, you see the timer, how much O2 he has in the bottle. Again, if he doesn't have bottle or O2 from the bottle is depleted, he will start to suffocate.
You can always Emergency Dive to get to the altitude that air is breathable. But don't do it, when engineer is on your wing already!
There is always something to repair, crew members in need of medical treatment, ammo needs to be carried around and....sometimes the O2 supply of your bomber will fail and it takes some time to get it working again.
SO EVERY crew member needs an O2 bottle.
Don't forget that the reinforced bottles improve your armor value...so why not equipping them?
when they need it and planes O2 is working, they get it from there. unlimited. If O2 is down, their personal O2 tank can provide them with O2 for as long as the counter says. But I haven't had oxygen-problems enough to say if that's on a per-mission basis or if it recharges with each new use if external O2 was available in between.
I go high and max altitute about _every single mission_ I do.
Did you actually had a point to make instead of just taking for granted I didn't know what I was talking about when I actually was?
