How to change the ape you play as?

It came up a few times while as a baby but as an adult I can't figure out how to swap between clan members. If you don't have any babies is it even possible to? Thanks.

Yes, just walk up to any ape from your clan (no matter if child, adult or elder) and then select the identify option or whatever it's called and then you get the prompt to switch.

Thanks, figured out you have to inspect first and THEN the prompt comes up to switch. Not sure why it doesn't come up before then.

I think it's because same button takes item from an ape before you inspect it. So that you don't switch to other apes randomly while collecting items or taking items from someone.
