Oh well shame it's not for me then
Competitive matches, NO WAY IN A MILLION YEARS
There are PLENTY of other experiences to be had that are multiplayer. Go vent elsewhere, where it really matters.
Nah, I do it in a forum of a game that SHOULD feature this. Hence why I am here.
But there's no compelling reason for the developer to actually make this a multiplayer game. It'd be far too easy if more than one player were around. I mean, let me make this clear - I wouldn't say no to a multiplayer mode. The game is fantastic and I'd love to be able to share the experience with my friends but by playing it solo it feels really challenging. Delegating most of the jobs on my to-do list to a friend or two would make the game really very trivial and it'd take away the entire semi-frantic micromanagement aspect of both your tribe and your individual ape. Therefore the magic of the game would be gone.
I'm not saying that multiplayer would be bad, but I'm saying it would turn it into what is essentially an ape avatar chat room, rather than a game where it forces making decisions on the player that may be to the detriment of your final goal. Would you really compromise your experience with this? It is, after all, an expression of art presented as a product. I think that's where the confusion is. You're not entitled to a multiplayer experience. You either want to experience the art of this media or you do not. It is a creative medium first and foremost - NOT a product. And it's this misunderstanding that's lead the likes of EA astray.
I, for one, welcome this experience - single player or otherwise. The game play itself may not be groundbreaking but I truly believe the concept and entire idea of this title is extremely innovative.
But I like Easy Games...
