Co-op between 2-4 people? Sure. But competitive multiplayer of any shade does not belong in this game.
The game idea sounds pretty cool, I hope in the future this game can expand to other species as well.
Multiplayer wouldn't be bad, just make sure there aren't any grindy crafty elements that can be exploited. The biggest problems with games like rust, ark and the like is that when you build up your weaponry it becomes very hard to survive. In those games people are less likely to value their lives and more likely to value their things. They are also more likely to find people to be the bigger threat than the world, we need incentive to work together.
Ancestors will be released in Chapters.
First Chapter is "The Humankind Odyssey" and will play the Story of our Ancestors inbetween 10mil-2mil years befor us.
Thats what the Developer sayd so far.
If you want those experiences though, you could play the actual ♥♥♥♥ tonne of survival pvp games on Steam. Adding it to this game would be wasted resources and frankly not that great. It would add nothing, though a co-op mode *could* potentially at least be pretty cool.
