How Many Animals Are There in the Game?

List:
1 - Apes
2 - Eastern Green Mamba
3 - African Rock Python
4 - Thorbjarnson's Crocodile
5 - Golden Machairodus
6 - Giant Warthog

It'll be a while before anybody here knows. I've counted 6 predators in the various Youtube gameplay videos so far, but those are all the first part of the game. 7 if the eagle shows in anything other than the cutscene. 8 if you count the hyena type dogs from the trailer.

There are also some birds, and other stuff that they are animals but only as ambient

elefants are in the savannah you cant really oversee them

The Bateleur Eagle is one of the first species you encounter. It's the big bird that eats your relative in the intro. They're not just ambient, you can fight, kill and eat them, just go up to their nests and wait some ten seconds for them to arrive

There are also Miocene Pelicans, another bird species at the Beach. You actually need those for at least two feats. Mechanically, they work identical to the Bateleur Eagle (as Hermes describes above).
